Finally! Something the African Union actually got right.
It has been 5 years since an application for a .africa domain was made by ZA Central Registry, a South African based company, to The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers(ICAAN).
ICAAN is responsible for administering Top Level Domains (TLDs) and what was delaying the launch of a .africa domain was ICAANs rule which required at least 60% of African countries to endorse the domain, and it finally happened this year. 75% of African countries have endorsed the ZACR bid for the domain.
